Immigrant Resource Network

Statement of Need

Immigrant populations face unique challenges when joining a new community. Often they confront language barriers, cultural differences, and unfamiliar social systems without the support of family and friends. These factors hinder them from gaining access to basic needs:

  • Cultural orientation to the US
  • English language instruction
  • Housing
  • Job training and employment
  • Child care
  • Education (for themselves and their family)
  • Health care

Morris County is home to a diverse group of individuals with diverse needs

There are more than 92,000 immigrants living and working in Morris County, and this number is steadily increasing.

Morris County's top immigrant populations are*:

  • 36% Asian
  • 36% Central and South American
  • 22% European

Most of these populations originate from*:

  • China and India
  • Colombia, Ecuador, and Honduras
  • Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom

* All data collected from the 2006 US Census
