Michelle Roers
Director of Community Impact
Michelle Roers is Director of Community Impact at United Way of Morris County, leading the organization’s efforts in the areas of EDUCATION, INCOME, and HEALTH. As part of this role, she manages the work in the INCOME impact area. She also serves as co-chair of United Way’s Housing Alliance to advocate for affordable housing solutions throughout Morris County. Prior to joining the United Way team, Michelle worked as a forensic social worker in Manhattan, and as case coordinator for the Morris County Multi-Disciplinary Teams and as prosecutor's agent at the Morris County Prosecutor's Office. Additionally, she worked as coordinator of the Legal Advocacy program at Jersey Battered Women's Service and as a counselor for the Morris County Sexual Assault Center. Michelle earned her bachelor's degree in social work from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minn., and a master's degree in social work from Fordham University's School of Social Services in New York. She is a licensed social worker (LSW) in New Jersey.

Stephanie Hoopes Halpin
Co-chair
Stephanie Hoopes Halpin is co-chair of the Income Action Team. As part of this role, she led United Way’s ALICE Task Force and spent 18 months conducting a comprehensive study of the low- and middle-income population living and working in Morris County in an effort to help United Way better understand the families and individuals who are struggling to make ends meet. This population was brought to life as ALICE – Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. In 2009, the ALICE Task Force received United Way of Morris County’s LIVE UNITED Income Award for its hard work and dedication to the project. Stephanie is an academic and community volunteer. She has served on United Way of Morris County’s Board of Directors since 2006. She was also appointed a Commissioner of New Jersey’s Public Broadcast Authority in 2006 and has served as Treasurer since 2007. Additionally, she serves as chair of the Mountain Lakes Centennial Committee and is a member of the Morris County Community Development Committee. Stephanie has a PhD from the London School of Economics. She has taught at the Universities of Sussex, Birmingham, and Columbia.
