Healthy Living Initiative

Summary of Our Work

Healthy Living InitiativeGood health is one of the building blocks for a better life, yet only 1 in 3 Americans is considered healthy. Our Healthy Living initiative helps children, adults and seniors improve their overall health and lead healthy lives.

A young teen turns to drugs to cope with being bullied each day. Seniors without prescription assistance have to make frightening decisions on which medicine they can afford and which ones they will go without. A caregiver struggling alone to care for a spouse with severe disability falls into depression. The costs of these issues filter down to all of us.

United Way is working nationally to increase by one-third the number of youth and adults who are healthy and avoid risky behaviors.

Here in Morris County, United Way works to improve the physical and mental health of children, adults and seniors by focusing on prevention, education, and improved access to health resources.
