Volunteer Recognition Event
November 10, 2004

United Way of Morris County honored 100 volunteers at its annual Volunteer Recognition event on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum.

Benjamin Weisman, a junior at Drew University, was presented with the George Baldwin Youth Volunteer Award. George Baldwin, a long-time volunteer with United Way of Morris County, established the award in 1996 to encourage volunteerism among young people. Lee Baldwin presented the award to Benjamin.

Ben is a theatre major and arts administration minor at Drew University. He sits on the Board of Directors for United Way of Morris County, and is a leader in the organization's College Student Program.

United Way also honored the Pro Bono Partnership with the Gold Award, recognizing the organization's commitment to providing free legal services to non-profits. James Bergen, Nancy Eberhardt, and Jennifer Chandler Hauge accepted the award.

Nine volunteers from United Way's "Safe and Vital Neighborhoods" Action Team received the Community Partnership Award, recognizing their work in the areas of affordable housing and community development. Diane Flynn, volunteer chair of the Action Team, accepted the award on her team's behalf.
