Morris Habitat New PartnerMorris Habitat for Humanity Joins Forces with United Way of Morris County

August 30, 2007 – Morristown, NJ – United Way of Morris County has approved Morris Habitat for Humanity as a member agency, adding the organization to United Way's network of local community partners.  Morris Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit, equal opportunity housing ministry dedicated to building decent, affordable housing with low-income families, joins United Way in its efforts to build a stronger community by creating long-term, sustainable solutions.

In order to achieve United Way Member Agency status, Morris Habitat for Humanity has undergone an extensive review by United Way volunteers and staff, including an examination of the agency's financial audit.  John Franklin, chief executive officer of United Way of Morris County said, "United Way takes a proactive approach in selecting our partners.  We are dedicated to ensuring that our donors' contributions are invested in programs and initiatives run by agencies that are financially and operationally sound.  We are confident that Morris Habitat for Humanity will help us achieve our community impact goals in Morris County in an effective, efficient manner."

As a member agency of United Way, Morris Habitat for Humanity now has access to funding for programs and capital projects, and will also be engaged in collaborative efforts that focus resources on key community issues.  The first project funded by United Way is the “Youth United” program, which engages students from across the community to build affordable housing projects.  Funds from United Way of Morris County will be used to offset construction costs to rehabilitate a two-family duplex that was donated to Morris Habitat for Humanity, which will be sold to selected families at a cost that they can afford.
