IBM Gives Little Ones A Great Start
May 12, 2006 – Morristown, NJ – Preschoolers at Morristown Neighborhood House and Dover Child Care Center are getting an important head start on learning thanks to IBM's KidSmart Early Learning Program. Preschool teachers at the centers have been trained on how to integrate computer technology into their lessons as well.
Since 1998, IBM, in collaboration with United Way of Morris County, has donated over 200 Young Explorer Computer Centers to local child care agencies. Working with United Way of America, IBM has donated an unprecedented 28,000 of these colorful computer stations to more than 5,500 nonprofit child care centers in all 50 states, and 50 countries.
It is often difficult for child care centers to find the resources to purchase computers. Additionally, many of the children are from low-income families with little access to technology at home. IBM is providing thousands of Morris County children a valuable opportunity to learn with technology.
