Housing Alliance Welcomes North Fork Bank as First Corporate Partner
September 26, 2006 – Morristown, NJ – The Housing Alliance, a coalition of 11 organizations committed to increasing the supply of affordable housing in Morris County, announced that North Fork Bank has joined as the group’s first corporate member.
The Alliance welcomed the national bank after adopting a new corporate membership category to include the private sector with the current public and nonprofit memberships.
"North Fork Bank is proud to join the Housing Alliance," said Michael Wall, Senior Vice President for North Fork Bank. "We believe affordable housing is a vital component to the future of Morris County, and that the work of the Alliance effectively propels this mission. North Fork stands ready to assist the Alliance and invest in new housing in the County."
The mission of the Housing Alliance is to provide a broad spectrum of affordable housing opportunities for all Morris County residents, particularly single heads of households, young adults, seniors, people with disabilities, and households making less than the median income of $82,025.
"North Fork Bank has demonstrated a commitment and the capacity to advance the Housing Alliance agenda for Morris County," said Phyllis Doyle, Alliance co-chair and former Director of Community Impact, United Way of Morris County. "As a private sector member, North Fork will enjoy the same privileges and responsibilities as our non-profit and public members, and our mission will benefit from the backing of this strong corporation."
The Alliance, initiated by United Way of Morris County, aims to raise awareness of the need and issues relating to housing, create opportunities for public and private organizations to work together to address Morris County’s housing challenge, and advocate for the adoption of legislation that fosters affordable housing.
Other Housing Alliance members include Affordable Harding Corporation, Community Hope, Inc., Headquarters Development, Inc., Housing Partnership for Morris County, Madison Affordable Housing Corp., Morris County Affordable Housing Corp., Morris Habitat for Humanity, Inc., NewBridge Services, Inc., The Rose House, and United Way of Morris County.
