Morris County Caregivers to be Honored – Caregivers Coalition of Morris County to Host Caregivers Awareness Day Celebration Luncheon
Senate President Richard J. Codey, featured speaker
October 24, 2007 – Morristown, NJ – On November 14, 2007, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at the Hyatt Morristown Headquarters Plaza, caregivers, those they care for, and representatives from government, community organizations, corporations, faith based groups, and the community at large, will join the Caregivers Coalition of Morris County to honor caregivers and the valuable care they provide to loved ones of all ages with chronic illnesses or disabilities.
November is National Family Caregivers Month and the Caregivers Coalition, an initiative of United Way of Morris County, is hosting a Caregivers Awareness Day Celebration Luncheon to raise awareness of the issues caregivers face. The Coalition's mission is to improve the lives of Morris County caregivers, who often care for loved ones in isolation, or without the supports they need.
Senate President Richard J. Codey, who was a caregiver for his father, will be the keynote speaker. The event will include an Official Proclamation from the Morris County Freeholders, declaring November as Family Caregiving Month in Morris County, and a special tribute to all caregivers in attendance.
Coalition members will unveil new resources that will help improve support and access to information for caregivers, including a new "Care Partner" program, and a "Pathways for Caregivers" guide which outlines ways to access services for a loved one with issues of aging, disability, or mental illness.
The event, which is sponsored by Johnson & Johnson's Strength for Caring Caregivers Initiative, Novartis Pharmaceuticals, and the National Alliance for Caregiving, is open to anyone interested in caregiving issues. The event is free. Seating is limited, and registration is required.
