Morris County Partners in Substance Abuse Prevention:
Strengthening Communities and Empowering Youth
May 15, 2007
The mission of the Morris County Partners in Substance Abuse Prevention is to strengthen Morris County families and communities by raising awareness of substance abuse and related issues through collaborative prevention and advocacy initiatives. The partnership, led by Morris County Municipal Alliances, focuses on three goals:
- Promoting awareness of substance abuse issues among youth
- Working in Morris County with the 40 Development Assets
- Involving Youth in prevention efforts.
The 40 Developmental Assets were developed by Search Institute, Minneapolis, Minnesota, an independent nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide leadership, knowledge, and resources to promote healthy children, youth, and communities. These assets have the power during critical adolescent years to influence choices young people make and help them become caring, responsible adults.
