The need is great.  Your help will matter.
It’s all about taking action.  Today.

We have all been stunned by the images and stories coming out of the Gulf Coast. The devastation is almost inconceivable. Except, there it is.

There are ways for each and every one of us to help.

Mobilizing.  Organizing.  Rolling up sleeves to help rebuild.  Welcoming displaced hurricane evacuees to our own doorsteps.  United Ways across America are helping hundreds of thousands cope with the single largest natural disaster our country has ever faced.

United Ways all over America are helping meet immediate needs.  But this is only the beginning.  United Way's unique strength will be needed also in the long term rebuilding efforts.  With a foundation of relationships throughout local communities, United Way will do what it does best:  unlock the helping potential of neighbors, businesses, agencies, institutions, and government to work together to help.

As a United Way donor, you are already supporting disaster relief efforts both locally and nationally.  We hope you will continue and increase your United Way of Morris County gift to support local services and disaster relief.

The devastation that has occurred in the Gulf Coast has challenged us all to help more than we may have ever done before.

An effective way to donate over and above your local United Way gift is to support the United Way Hurricane Katrina Response Fund. Every dollar contributed to the United Way Hurricane Response and Recovery Fund will be used to fund services that address both the short- and long-term needs of the individuals and families affected by hurricane devastation.

Help for hurricane victims is needed right here in Morris County too.  Already approximately 60 families have moved into Morris County from the Gulf Coast. United Way of Morris County will be working closely with local agencies to provide support and back-up to care for the needs of these families.

Recent tragic events have also revealed the dire socio-economic conditions which exist in New Orleans and in many of our American cities; right here in Morris County, people need help each and every day, and depend on United Way.  Did you know that on a freezing night last January, 539 people in Morris County had no place to call home?  And that 140 of them were children?  Together, we can make a difference, but we need your help.  This is an incredibly generous community and united we'll do what it takes to meet the critical needs of today AND tomorrow.

Over 120 programs in our County, including the American Red Cross, depend on United Way of Morris County support.  We are carefully balancing our own response to the immediate emergency needs while meeting the ongoing needs of our local community and its citizens.

By continuing and increasing your gift to United Way of Morris County you will help us assist hurricane evacuees, support local services and disaster relief, AND ensure that all the work we do in Morris County can continue.

Thank you for digging deeper in your pockets as we work to build a stronger Morris County and reach out to help rebuild outside our borders. Now, more than ever, United Way resources are needed to improve lives and build stronger communities.
