Two of United Way’s Own Honored as Outstanding Volunteers
April 26, 2007
Phil Van Kirk and Peter Wolfson were honored by United Way partner Volunteer Management Centers at the organization's Annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner on April 26, 2007.
Each year, Volunteer Management Centers receives nominations from organizations and individuals across the region – non-profits, schools, places of worship, neighbors, friends, and colleagues. After careful consideration, a volunteer panel of judges selects a handful of honorees to be recognized.
Phi Van Kirk was recognized specifically for his efforts around affordable housing – raising funds, raising awareness, and raising buildings. Van Kirk was instrumental in bringing the Housing Alliance together and has also helped to garner greater public awareness and exposure for the affordable housing situation in Morris County.
Peter Wolfson was also recognized for his service to United Way. Specifically, he was honored for raising funds for capital improvement projects and repairs at United Way member agencies through the Commercial Real Estate Network. With support and leadership from Wolfson, the Committee has raised over $1 million since 2000, and funded more than 60 projects throughout Morris County. Wolfson was also recognized for his work with United Way's Public Officials Forum, which brings together mayors, freeholders, state senators, business leaders, nonprofit representatives, and community members to focus on critical community issues in Morris County.
United Way of Morris County salutes Phil Van Kirk and Peter Wolfson, as well as the hundreds of other dedicated individuals that volunteer their time with United Way. Together, we are helping to build a better community in Morris County.
