Lori RubinNew Coordinator on Board to Help Caregivers Coalition
June 29, 2007

United Way of Morris County is pleased to announce that Lori Rubin will be joining United Way as Coordinator for the Caregivers Coalition of Morris County.

Lori received her Masters in Social Work from Columbia University. She has worked in the field of eldercare and caregiving for the past seven years.  Lori's passion for social work emerged from experiences in her own life; she spent a great deal of time helping her mother provide care for her grandmother.  Lori recalls these experiences as both challenging and rewarding.  It was in providing this care that Lori feels she learned, first-hand, how vital it is to truly advocate on behalf of a loved one.

After spending a summer living and working on an Indian reservation in Montana, Lori knew that she wanted to pursue a career in the service of others.

While earning her masters degree, Lori worked at a community health center for people with AIDS, doing counseling and groupwork with individuals and families.  After deciding to focus her studies in the area of aging, Lori completed a fellowship program working with older adults in a variety of community settings.

For the past six years Lori worked at DOROT, an agency serving homebound seniors in Manhattan, as both a staff social worker and the program coordinator for their Caregivers' Connections program.

Lori is very pleased to be joining the United Way team and looks forward to working on behalf of caregivers in Morris County.  United Way of Morris County is very pleased to have her!
