September 21, 2007
United Way of Morris County is pleased to announce that Andrea Conway has joined United Way as Director of Marketing & Communications.
Born and raised in Morris County, Andrea is very familiar with the culture of this community. She obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Communication from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey before venturing overseas where she earned a Certificate to Teach English as a Foreign Language from the International House in Newcastle, England. Andrea secured a teaching position in Berlin, Germany where she taught English at a private language institute as well as at Siemens.
After two years in Europe, Andrea returned to the States to begin her career in marketing as a Media Planner & Buyer for Paragon Media in New York City, developing targeted media campaigns to build exposure and brand identity for a host of products and services. Andrea’s most prominent campaign was to support Pfizer’s introduction of its much-anticipated drug, Viagra. Andrea also found creative and innovative ways to reach Hispanic and Asian Americans for a discounted long-distance phone service from PT1 Communications and helped develop a local presence for Bronx Lebanon Hospital, the largest voluntary, not-for-profit health care system serving the South and Central Bronx neighborhoods.
Most recently, Andrea served as a senior staff member of the marketing department for Sports Illustrated KIDS magazine, a division of Time, Inc in New York City where she developed and coordinated various marketing initiatives and events for this magazine franchise. Her contributions successfully increased revenue and exposure for the brand.
Andrea has always recognized the importance of social service and has actively volunteered and raised funds for several important causes. Inspired by her personal interest and study of Native American history, Andrea volunteered for a restoration project on the Cherokee Indian Reservation in North Carolina during her undergraduate studies at Rutgers. She also served as a volunteer crew member aboard the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater where she taught kids the importance of taking care of natural resources. During her tenure at Sports Illustrated KIDS, Andrea acted as a tutor and mentor for a middle school student from Harlem through the Time to Read program. Finally, Andrea has used her passion for exercise to raise funds by riding from Boston to New York City to support AIDS research, and a tri-borough NYC ride to help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.
Andrea is very pleased to be joining the United Way team and looks forward to working to improve the lives of those in need in Morris County. United Way of Morris County is very pleased to have her! |
