JCP&L Shows Team Spirit for United Way
August 31, 2007
A team of about 20 energetic men and women from JCP&L in Morristown recently competed in a multi-state softball tournament that their parent company, FirstEnergy, featured as part of their company's fall 2007 United Way campaign.
Jersey Lightning, the Morristown-based team, managed by Lynda Hartmann, Layout Tech Senior, and coached by Rob Giurlando, United Way of Morris County, won two regional games in northern New Jersey before falling to the JCP&L Jersey Shore team, the Jersey Shore Cats, in the final state championship game. The Jersey Shore Cats went on to compete in the United Way Elite 8 Softball Tournament at FirstEnergy's corporate headquarters in Akron, Ohio.
The JCP&L/FirstEnergy softball tournament created an excellent spirit of fun and competition among associates, and raised awareness of United Way and its work throughout the community. Proceeds from water and candy sales at the tournament will be donated to local United Ways.
According to Donald M. Lynch, Region President, JCP&L, "We are so proud of our employees for participating with such enthusiasm for such a great cause. From JCP&L's point of view, this is a wonderful partnership with our most valued community organization, made possible by the work of the JCP&L Employee Volunteer Council, chaired by Elaine Vincent!"
United Way gratefully thanks JCP&L associates for their commitment to our local community and to United Way. A great time was had by all! |
