Annual Mentoring Celebration: Mentoring Moves in Unique Ways
Wednesday, May 2, 2007
Mentors who have contributed to our community by impacting lives one person at a time were recognized and honored at United Way of Morris County's Annual Mentoring Celebration at the Morris Museum on May 2nd.
The celebration offered mingling with new friends and old ones over hors d'oeuvres, and a special thank you to the dedicated individuals who volunteer in mentoring programs in a range of capacities. Morris County agencies and businesses that are involved with mentoring programs nominated mentors who have been doing extraordinary work in our community. Honorees included: Ellyn Schoenfeld, Joseph Walker, Rita Parikh, Heather Lewis, Jaclyn Scapicchio, Arlene Stoller, Margie Ferrari, Bernice Bailine, Mary Hotz, Anna Ho, and Sally Weissman.
Among the evening's highlights was a special donation presented by Arlene Lester from State Farm Foundation. This year, State Farm generously supported United Way's Mentor Training and Consulting Center, as well as the Youth Leadership and Service Council. In presenting the check, Arlene particularly thanked JoAnn Tsonton for her ongoing support and enthusiasm of mentoring programs. John Franklin, CEO of United Way of Morris County was on hand to receive State Farm's generous gift. A State Farm employee, Joseph Walker was one of the evening's honorees.
John Franklin thanked the individuals and agencies present for their work and commitment in the area of mentoring. Prize donations made from Trader Joe's of Florham Park, the Morris Museum and the Bickford Theater were also awarded.
If you'd like to get involved in mentoring or would like more information about our Mentor Training Program please email JoAnn Tsonton or phone 973.993.1160 x120.
