Local Mentors Honored for Great Work
Wednesday, May 3, 2006
The evening of May 3rd was warm and sunny and over 50 community members came together to enjoy some wonderful museum exhibits, fine fare and each others' company.
They also did something far more important: they honored the work of some community members who volunteer as mentors in Morris County.
United Way of Morris County's Mentor Training and Consulting Center hosted its annual Mentoring Celebration and Awards Evening at the beautiful Morris Museum on Wednesday, May 3, 2006.
The highlight of the evening was recognition of ten wonderful volunteers who work as mentors. JoAnn Tsonton, Director of the Mentor Training and Consulting Center, brought each of the honorees forward, explaining their specific mentoring assignments. In some cases, mentees were on hand as well to applaud their mentors!
The 2006 Honorees were:
Yvonne Annick, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)
Terneice Brown, State Farm (Garrett Morgan TransportationAcademy)
Mary Beth Finnegan, Pfizer Inc (Morristown High Science Academy)
Alison Hunt, NORWESCAP
Michele Hurley, Passages, Inc.
Neisa Maute, Roots and Wings
Janet Miller, Family Service of Morris County (Friends of the Blind)
Joy Schwartz, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Morris, Bergen & Passaic County
Mason Shepherd, Mental Health Association of Morris County
