United Way Help for Children Golf Classic
Help for Children Classic Scores Big!
Monday, May 21, 2007
The sun shone bright, a spring breeze rippled the flags, and an enticing, perfectly manicured course was waiting, as over 90 golfers stepped into the tee box.
By day’s end, prizes were awarded, stories were traded, and children in need all over Morris County were helped by generous players supporting United Way.
United Way’s enthusiastic golfing friends, both new and old, raised much-needed funds at the annual Help for Children Classic, tackling a tough 18 at Trump National Golf Club on Monday, May 21, 2007.
The challenging Trump course (designed by top architect, Tom Fazio and "playing much longer" than its official 6,700 yards) received positive reviews all around.
Sponsors of the Help for Children Classic included:

A special thanks to the Intel crew for their continued support as well. It means so much to many, many children.
An Odyssey Pontoon boat valued at almost $36,000 was provided by Ray Fernandez, owner of Bridge Marina, Inc. in Lake Hopatcong. The pleasure boat was the Grand Prize for anyone lucky enough to shoot a hole in one on the 10th hole. Unfortunately, another year has passed without a winner…but we remain ever hopeful!

Dave Albright, Co-Chair of the event, spoke at the awards ceremony: "The United Way golf event is always a terrific one, and today was no exception. Of course, knowing that our support helps children in need makes playing in this event more rewarding."
John Franklin, CEO of United Way of Morris County, thanked the golfers on behalf of Morris County’s children. He cited the numerous programs United Way supports that help children off the streets, stay out of gangs, cope with abuse, and attend quality child care. “United Way helps thousands of these kids each year, and all the players at this event are helping, too. We hope to see you all next year!”
Awards were given to the following winners: Individual Low Gross: Chris Behney, UBS. Individual Low Net: Peter Quintans of Bristol-Myers Squibb. Best Ball Gross Team: Intel – Thall Team, with Cameron Campbell, Ken Gensch, Stuart Cohen, and Chris Behney. Best Ball Net Team: Intel – Bailey Team with Joe Bailey, Roger Leone, Peter Quintans, and Scott Patterson. Closest to the Pin on Hole #4: Bill Evans, from Asurion.
