Family Ice Skating – Enjoy a Natural High!
Wednesday, March 19, 2008
In schools throughout Morris County, students have been talking about natural highs and making resolutions to achieve those highs as part of the "Achieving Natural Highs in 2008" Initiative. What is a Natural High? An excited or elevated state brought on by a non-drug related life event. Studies have been done that lend support to natural highs (i.e. highs obtained without using chemicals) and their ability to induce positive emotions and a sense of well being as effectively as chemical highs.
The Morris County Partners in Substance Abuse Prevention recently staged an evening filled with fun and prizes for kids and families throughout Morris County at the Mennen Sports Arena in Morris Township. The event was supported by the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders, in collaboration with the Morris County Department of Human Services, the Morris County Partners in Substance Abuse Prevention and the Morris County Park Commission. The cost of skate rentals was underwritten by Deirdre’s House – Morris County’s Child Advocacy Center. Additional support was provided by United Way of Morris County.
