Youth Council Teens Scare Up a Fun Treat for Children with Special Needs at Annual Trick-or-Suites Event
Friday, October 26, 2007
Ghosts, goblins, princesses and super heroes gathered at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Parsippany, NJ on October 26th for a special Halloween event. Over 100 costumed children from the P.G. Chambers School in Cedar Knolls came to trick-or-treat with their parents and siblings in a safe and handicap-accessible environment.
As part of the 17th annual "Trick-or-Suites" party hosted by Embassy Suites, teens from United Way of Morris County's Youth Leadership and Service Council created a virtual "Candy Land" in their suite. The Council members dressed up as larger-than-life sweets, such as Mr.Mint and the Gingerbread Man, to complete the theme and delight the young trick-or-treaters.
In addition to the United Way of Morris County's Youth Leadership and Service Council, approximately 22 local companies took part in the event. Each business decorated a suite and offered a variety of sweets, small gifts and games for the children. Themes chosen for suites included: SuperHeroes, 50's Sock Hop, Winnie the Pooh, Haunted House, Candy Store, O.K. Corral, Pet Shop, and Rainforest.
Embassy Suites Hotel offered a variety of entertainment to make sure everyone had a great time, including: pumpkin painting and face painting. The event ended with a pizza lunch, provided by Embassy Suites.
All proceeds generated from the room rentals went to the P.G. Chambers School.
