Earned Income Tax Awareness Campaign Kick-Off
Thursday, February 1, 2007

This year, thousands of hard working people in Morris County may miss out on millions of dollars because they do not claim the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) on their federal and state tax returns.  Through the EITC program, working people can claim up to thousands of dollars in federal and state income tax benefits.  According to the federal government, the EITC lifts nearly four million people out of poverty each year.

To promote the EITC in Morris County, a kick off event was held on February 1, 2007. Featured speaker Denise Perry of the Internal Revenue Service presented important information about EITC, which has brought millions of low-income, working Americans out of poverty.  Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) volunteers also provided information about the necessary documents for tax preparation.

For more information on the Earned Income Tax Credit Awareness Campaign, please visit our EITC section. To request additional flyers, please email Melissa Wankmuller or, phone 973.993.1160, x.122.
