Women’s Health Insights

The Women's Leadership Council hosts a variety of events throughout the year, and raises awareness and funds for some of the most pressing issues facing girls, women, and families today. On February 7, 2006, the Women's Leadership Council and Saint Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center hosted "We've Come a Long Way: Women's Health Insights," a free educational program focused on women's health issues.
The program featured a panel of doctors from Saint Barnabas Health Care System, including Linda Sanders, MD, Medical Director of the Saint Barnabas Breast Center, and Bonnie Sidler, MD, FRCP(C). The program gave women the unique opportunity to ask a variety of questions about health-related matters.
Dr. Linda Sanders unraveled the mystery behind state-of-the-art diagnostic tools such as mammograms, ultrasounds, and breast MRIs. Sanders is Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology. She attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Sanders completed a Fellowship in Special Procedures/ Mammography at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, NYC. She has been on staff at Saint Barnabas Medical Center since 1991.
Dr. Bonnie Sidler, an endocrinologist, shared information about early detection of osteoporosis and its latest treatments. Sidler is Board Certified in Internal Medicine as well as Endocrinology and Metabolism. She attended the Royal Victoria Hospital at McGill University, in Montreal, where she also completed a completed a Clinical Fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism. Dr. Sidler also completed a Research Fellowship in Calcium Metabolism and the hormone PTHrP at the Lady Davis Institute, Jewish General Hospital, Montreal, Canada.
