A Royal Thank You: Volunteer
Recognition Event
Wednesday, November 2, 2005
United Way depends on the expertise and commitment of over 300 volunteers. Ten of those volunteers were honored at United Way's annual Volunteer Recognition event on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at Cendant Corporate and Real Estate in Parsippany.
Maureen Dempsey, former chair of the Success By 6® Action Team, received the Gold Award, recognizing her commitment to nurturing young children in Morris County. In accepting the award, Maureen noted that it was an honor to work with "such an outstanding group of caring people and an organization that really cares about the community."
Katica Kiss received the George Baldwin Youth Volunteer Award for her work with United Way's Youth Leadership and Service Council. The George Baldwin Youth Volunteer Award was established by United Way in honor of George Baldwin, a long-time volunteer with United Way of Morris County, in 1995.
A group of eight United Way volunteers received the Community Partnership Award, recognizing their work that helped launch Morris County's first ever Caregivers Coalition. Award recipients were: Susan Anderson; Jeff Bashe; Polly Cranwell; Karen Donofrio; Barbara Flint; Ken Oexle; Carolann Roberto; and Pat Stelmach. Dr. Bette Simmons, County College of Morris, presented the award, stating "This is the group of people – many of them caregivers themselves – that has done the heavy lifting and provided the leadership and vision for the Coalition. They took upon themselves additional responsibility and had great involvement in the development of the products coming out of the Caregivers Coalition."
United Way gratefully thanks Cendant for hosting this year's Volunteer Recognition Event. United Way also thanks Peter Lister and Evan Lane, musicians from County College of Morris who volunteered their time at the event, for providing acoustic entertainment. A special thanks is also extended to all of our volunteers, for sharing our vision of improved lives and stronger communities throughout Morris County. We are achieving more together than we could ever achieve alone. Thank You.
