Pfizer Mentors, Trained by United Way, Help Students
Mentoring in Action Picture 1A group of students enrolled in the Science Academy at Morristown High School received assistance with the college application process recently. Help came in the form of their mentors, Pfizer employees, who visited with the seniors at the high school.

The mentors had each attended a mentor training program presented by United Way of Morris County and held on-site at Pfizer Inc, before beginning work with their students. Mentors are paired with their students for two school years. Students are typically paired with someone whose career best matches their interests.

Mentoring in Action Picture 2United Way is proud to be working with corporations who encourage their employees to give of their time to high school students. Mentors have a profound positive impact on the lives of the students they are mentoring.

United Way has also trained mentors employed with State Farm Insurance Company in Parsippany, who are working with students at Garrett Morgan Academy in Paterson.

Mentor training is available to any corporation interested in connecting with local high schools, or interested in helping their employees become mentors within the community. The training is provided without charge as a service of United Way of Morris County.
