Who Benefits from Mentoring?
The Mentee!
A 2002 study conducted by Child Trends, Inc. shows the following statistics for young people who were mentored.

- 53% of mentored youth went on to colleges or universities as opposed to 49% of the control group.
- Mentored young people are 46% less likely to try drugs; and mentored minority youth are 70% less likely to try drugs than the control group.
- Misdemeanor and felony offenses fell from 4% of the population to 1%. Youth with a prior offense history were 38% less likely to re-offend compared to 64% of the control group.
