United-Way-funded programs:
Information and Referral
The information and referral program enables individuals with disabilities to live as independently as possible within their community, and helps individuals and their families to be aware of resources available to them. The program maintains comprehensive files on the services available to people with disabilities in the community and refers individuals appropriately. Services may include housing, transportation, personal assistance, employment, ADA compliance, assistive technology, and interpreter services for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Recreation and Socialization
The program is an integrated project providing recreational opportunities to individuals with disabilities of all ages residing in Morris, Sussex and Warren counties. It strives to bridge the gap between isolation and community involvement. Activities take place in community based settings. The project provides individuals with disabilities with opportunities to participate in activities that otherwise might not be available to them as well as an opportunity to socialize with their peers. The target service population includes individuals with any disability residing in Morris, Sussex or Warren County. Currently, this program consists of 2 components; monthly outings for the adult population and monthly outings for young adults ages 16-25.
