We are a great resource and partner for you. We can give you tips and ideas on how to run a successful campaign.

checkmarkInvolve your CEO.
The success of your campaign depends on the commitment and involvement of your senior leadership. You can ask them to do the following:

  • Designate time for employees to participate in Days of Caring or site tours.
  • Endorse the campaign through a letter.
  • Ask them to attend and speak at a Kick-Off.
  • Ask him/her to have a leadership event with senior staff members, so
    they can set the pace of the campaign.

Let employees know the goal and show them the progress along the way.

checkmarkRecruit a Campaign Committee.
Your campaign committee can help you manage your campaign.

This is a key factor in reaching your goals. We suggest the following tools:

Hold an organization wide kick-off event to build enthusiasm for the campaign.
The following is a kick-off action plan:

  • Ask CEO to attend and publicly endorse campaign.
  • Invite your United Way Representative to attend, they can also bring
    along a guest speaker.
  • Keep the meeting fun, have balloons and serve food.
  • Hold a question and answer period.
  • Thank everyone.

Invite your United Way Representative to attend staff meetings; this will give us a chance to talk more closely with employees.

People love gifts! You can offer the following:

  • An extra vacation day.
  • Movie passes.

  • Lunch with the CEO.
  • Sporting event tickets.
  • Gifts from vendors.

  • Free meal in the cafeteria.
  • Breakfast for the department with the best results.

Fun Campaign Ideas

  • Email contest – Email United Way weekly trivia questions and
    reward the first correct answers with a United Way tee shirt.
  • Food Sales – Pizza, popcorn, donuts, and sandwiches. If you have a
    cafeteria in your building or company, see if they will donate the items.
  • Jeans Day – On Fridays charge everyone $5 to wear jeans to work.
  • Potluck Lunch – Invite participants to make a dish and then have
    each person donate $2 for lunch.
  • Baby Picture Contest – Have co-workers bring in baby pictures,
    charge $2 to guess, the one with the most correct answers wins a prize.
  • Or you can have a car wash, trivia contest, silent auction or anything else
    you can think of.
