Diversity & Inclusion
We LIVE UNITED.
DIVERSITY: The quality of being different or unique at the individual or group level. This includes work style, parental status, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, skin color, language, age, mental and physical abilities – and more! Even people who appear the same on the outside are different!
INCLUSION: A strategy to leverage diversity. Leveraging diversity requires an environment where people feel heard and supported to do their personal best. Diversity always exists in social systems. Inclusion, on the other hand, must be created.
Diversity and Inclusion are core values for United Way of Morris County, and for the entire United Way movement. Our commitment to be inclusive and respectful of all forms of diversity defines who we are as an organization and how we work. Beyond being the "right thing to do," Diversity and Inclusion make good business sense, allowing us to increase donor engagement throughout a wider variety of communities. Meaningful Diversity and Inclusion efforts also increase employee and volunteer satisfaction, and create loyal, long-lasting relationships with those who champion the United Way movement.
We aspire to involve every segment of the community in every aspect of our work and to demonstrate our commitment to and accountability for an inclusive environment in which differences are recognized, respected, valued, and celebrated.

As part of United Way of Morris County's Diversity and Inclusion strategy, our Young Adult and Inclusion Coordinator works with an Inclusion Committee to actively seek opportunities to share our work in EDUCATION, INCOME, and HEALTH in communities which are not currently engaged by United Way.
