About Advisory Council
United Way of Morris County receives oversight and direction from two important bodies: the Board of Directors and the Advisory Council. By having two groups with distinctly different but critical roles, we are able to engage strong community leaders in the work of governance, strategy, and advocacy. These two groups also provide the opportunity to be more inclusive of diversity and differing perspectives within the organization.
The all-volunteer Advisory Council provides assistance in developing and reviewing strategic and tactical plans to support and enhance the efforts of United Way. Members play an active role in taking the pulse of the community and giving guidance to the organization on community issues, marketing, and resource development.
While serving on the Advisory Council, members perform a variety of functions for United Way of Morris County, including:
- Keeping the organization connected to our various constituents and the community
- Helping the organization foster good relations and create new relationships with key community partners and public officials.
- Providing collective intelligence for the development of marketing, community impact, and fundraising plans
- Recruiting new Advisory Council members with expertise and good standing in the community, ensuring appropriate diversity
- Enhancing the organization's public standing by serving as knowledgeable ambassadors and advocates of the community
- Actively supporting campaign and fundraising efforts
